Standards-compliant/Strict Mode
Internet Marketing Glossary - Definition:
Standards-compliant/Strict Mode
To enable backward-compatibility and allow old webpages to work in new web browsers, webpages are rendered in different modes. In standards-compliant mode, the web browser assumes that the webpage has been created according to the declared web content specifications and so there is almost no difference in how the webpage is displayed. In strict mode, you have greater control how the webpage is displayed because it allows a lot of browser-specific features.
